The Impact is a cataclysmic event that destroyed a large portion of the worlds surface. This destroyed zone is today known as the Forbidden Lands.

Not much is known about the world before the impact. It was inhabited by humans known as the Ancients. They were powerful and highly advanced. The current inhabitants of Toreas are distant descendants, having none of their ancestors knowledge and living a much simpler life.

A long time, nobody knows how long, after the impact, a small number of ancients survived in chambers below the surface, in a state of deep sleep. They all woke up at the same time and emerged from their shelters. This event is known as the Day of Awakening.
